The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are underway with a robust electoral setup designed to accommodate a significant voter base. Approximately 88 lakh voters are expected to participate in the election process, which is scheduled to occur in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1. The electoral process will cover 90 constituencies across the region.

In preparation for the elections, 209 new polling stations have been established to facilitate voter access and convenience. The Election Commission has implemented comprehensive arrangements, including webcasting at all polling booths to ensure transparency and real-time monitoring. Special provisions have been made to cater to various groups, enhancing the overall accessibility of the voting process.

A notable pre-poll development includes a strategic alliance between the Congress and the National Conference, which could influence the electoral dynamics. The results of the elections are slated to be announced on October 4.

PK Pole, Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, confirmed the active engagement of 88 lakh voters in this crucial electoral exercise, underscoring the significance of the democratic process in the region.
